Definition: (1) Verb: to remove unwanted silver salts from developed film or print material. Adjective : (2) ~ spot: area of optical component without surface texture - e.g. as used with ground-glass focusing screen - or of smooth profile e.g. level area of Fresnel lens. (3) ~ aperture: the opening in the barrel or mount of an optical system or its components which limits the size of the bundle of rays transmitted through the system. (4) ~ eye distance: the distance, measured on the optical axis, between the last mechanical surface of an eyepiece to the surface of the eye.
