catadioptric

Definition: Adjective: ~ optical system: one which uses both reflection and refraction of light to form the image. * Usually most of the power comes from use of the reflective surfaces. * The combination of refractive surfaces of low or zero power to correct aberrations as well as a narrow image field produces a highly corrected images with particularly low chromatic aberration for the focal length, usually at least 350mm for use in 35mm cameras.
