Definition: (1) Interface accessory designed to read data from memory cards such as CompactFlash or SmartMedia to input to computer. * May be designed as adaptor to fit into existing media reader, e.g. the Flashpath adaptor. (2) Equipment used to read data from cards punched with holes. * Uses light detector linked to computer to identify holes. * Obsolete system formerly used to program and enter data to mainframe computers.
