Definition: (1) Leakage of excess charge from a highly excited pixel - i.e. one receiving a lot of light - on a CCD or CMOS sensor, into neighbouring pixels, causing loss of detail, inaccurate colour and inaccurate density readings. (2) Defect of the coating of an optical element, seen as irregular variation in tint on the surface of a lens.
