blackout
Definition: Total loss of electrical power. * Voltage of electrical supply drops to zero for an extended period (more than a few seconds). * This is enough to loss all data in any dynamic memory such as RAM which needs power to retain information. * It can damage hard-disk if it is in process of writing when blackout occurs, otherwise merely causes loss of unsaved work.
