bellows
Definition: Flexible, collapsible light-tight component connecting optical components or lens and film carrier. * Designed to allow long extensions without weight penalty of a normal barrel construction or to afford considerable freedom of movement of the components: for this the material is folded into pleats or corrugated to allow it to be collapsed. * This design usually prevents mechanical linkage between components e.g to synchronise shutter cocking and film advance.
