Definition: Design of method of attaching components together - e.g. lens to camera, lens-hood to lens. * Consists of two or more tabs on the item to be attached which slip into notches or cutaways in a flange on the main component: with a small rotation, the tabs hold onto the flange. * Design ensures (a) rapid fit (b) a precision fit (c) a secure fit. * Mainstay of lens to camera attachments: less secure than a screw mount but far more convenient.
