aspect ratio
Definition: Ratio between width and height (or depth). Key property of film formats as well as in publishing and film media. * E.g. the sides of 135 or 35 mm format are nominally 24 x 36 mm, so aspect ratio is approximately 1.5:1; for 5x4" or 10x8" it is 1:1.25. * Note for precise work, image dimensions on negative should be measured.
