apparent visual angle

Definition: The angle between two lines drawn from the furthest extents of an object to a viewer; the angle subtended by an object at the viewer. * It varies with the size of the object, its distance from the viewer, the intervention of a refractive medium (e.g. water) and whether the object is viewed through an optical instrument.
