aperture grille
Definition: Type of colour monitor display technology. * The name refers to the screen of extremely fine vertically arranged wires carrying varying charges designed to direct the aim of the stream of electrons to hit a mosaic of red, green and blue phosphors in a cathode-ray tube. The screen therefore lies between the screen and the electron gun consisting of the accelerating and focusing electrodes. * Two horizontally arranged wires are used to prevent the vertical wires from vibrating.
