ambient light
Definition: Existing light or that present in the immediate environment or which is not subject to direct control. (1) In photography, usage tends to distinguish such light from artificially introduced or easily controlled lighting e.g. from flash or other luminaires. (2) In physics, usage refers to light that may interfere with a detector or machine vision system and which is treated as noise by the system.
