Windows applications

Definition: Applications software e.g. word-processing, spread-sheet, database, communications etc that can be used only within the software environment provided by the Windows graphical user 'interface'. * Windows must be running before these programs can be used: as pay-off, they may then share features such as some commands, the ability to exchange data directly and also to share common resources such as fonts, parts of code etc.
