Thermo-Autochrome

Definition: Print system using dyes held in micro-capsules which burst on heating to release colour. * A laminated paper contains three layers of separation dyes in the subtractive primaries (cyan, etc.) held in micron-sized capsules. On printing, the paper passes between two sets of tiny pins which are heated to different temperatures according to the colour required: different combinations of heating of the upper and lower pins selectively heat different layers. * Proprietary name belonging to Fuji Camera Co.
