Definition: Portable Network Graphics: file format for losslessly compressed images recommended for use on the Web. * It supports indexed-colour, greyscale and truecolour images (up to 48 bits per pixel) plus one alpha channel, with sample bit depth of up to 16 bits. * It can be streamed, with progressive display. * It is intended as a replacement for GIF and may well kill off TIFF on the Web. * It does not support CMYK colour space.
