Kepler telescope

Definition: Optical design using a fixed positive front lens and a focusing eyepiece: the front lens forms an intermediate image in the lens which is projected by the eyepiece to give an inverted, reversed image. * Principle much used and still in use for viewfinders as a frame-limiting mask can be placed at plane of intermediate image, but image must be rectified with prisms or mirrors.
