Hertz
Definition: Unit of frequency, the measurement of vibration or other regular, cyclic change: defined as the number of complete cycles per second e.g. of sound vibrations, alternating current, frequency of light vibrations, number of clock cycles controlling an integrated circuit chip and so on. * Abbreviation: Hz. * kHz: kilohertz equals 1000 cycles per second, MHz: megahertz equals 1,000,000 cycles per second. * Also called inverse seconds, or reciprocal seconds. * Named after Heinrich Hertz, German physicist.
