Herschel effect
Definition: The reduction or destruction of latent image by infrared radiation. * Has effect of decreasing density and contrast of developed image. * Also known as intermediate Herschel effect. Save the Herschel effect Help save this acute physical observation from the obscurity it so richly deserves: can you think of a use for this phenomenon? E-mail me. (But don't suggest roasting you film in order to reduce contrast -- I've thought of that already and anyway photographers in tropics know that failing to process their film quickly enough always leads to dull negatives, flat transparencies.)
