Flashpix

Definition: File format structured to hold image as a series or pyramid of differing resolutions at a half, quarter, eigth, etc. of the original image size. * This allows rapid use of the image with minimum re-sizing and ability for low-end equipment to open any image. * File sizes are at least a third larger than equivalent uncompressed TIFF files. * FlashPix can be saved with JPEG compression. * Standard from consortium of Kodak, LivePicture, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft. * File extension is .fpx.
