CdS cell

Definition: Cadmium sulphide cell: exposure meter design based on photoconductive properties of cadmium sulphide. * Electrical resistance of CdS drops as more light falls on it. * More sensitive than selenium cell - which it superseded - but needs battery for operation. * Has itself been superseded by SPD cell.
