Definition: Central Processor Unit: part of computer which receives instructions, evaluates them according to the software applications, then issues appropriate instructions to the other parts of the computer: in short it is the brains of the beast. * It is the part that is continually being upgraded to work faster, more efficiently and more powerfully. * Often referred to as the 'chip' e.g. G4, Pentium etc.
