Boolean

Definition: System of logical operations or relations (e.g. AND, NOT) originally applied to manipulation of relations between sets. * In computing, most often encountered in (1) database inquiries E.g. searching by 'concerto' AND 'guitar' NOT 'Spanish' probably wont' yield very much. (2) in operations with shapes in graphics or layout programs e.g. a cylinder and a smaller sphere at one end can be combined with a Boolean operation MINUS, which creates a hemispherical depression at one end; an operation PLUS may create a rounded end to the cylinder.
