Definition: The bright spot in the centre of the focal point of an aberration-free optical system imaging a uniformly illuminated source. * Strictly: the centre - i.e. everything interior to the first dark ring - of the focal point diffraction pattern of a uniformly irradiated, fully corrected, circular optical system.
