Abbe constant

Definition: Physical constant for optical media. * Defined as the ratio of media's refractivity to its dispersion. * Expressed as V-value or n-number (read as nu-value or nu-number). * Higher V-values indicate less variation of dispersion with wavelength, i.e. less rainbow and more nearly equal refraction at all wavelengths. * The reciprocal of dispersive power.
